LA Housing Authority Director Resigns

The Housing Authority of Los Angeles is reeling after details emerged
of its latest scandal. Today, its interim CEO Ken Simmons announced his resignation at the request of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. The two had feuded over whether or not the Mayor knew of a million dollar severance package offered to former head, Rudolph Montiel. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles City Controller’s office announced it would conduct a comprehensive audit of the agency. Over the past couple of years, HACLA employees and board members have reportedly abused the department’s budget for personal trips and other perks. Ernesto Arce has more from Los Angeles.
