The family of a 31 year-old Los Angeles County man filed a wrongful
death complaint against the Downey Police Department this morning.
Michael Nida was shot several times in the back and side by
a Downey officer who used a machine gun that is only authorized during
SWAT team operations. The father of four died at the scene. Ernesto Arce reports.
