Hundreds At Federal Hearing Oppose Fingerprint Program

Several hundred people attended a public hearing in Los Angeles last night on the federal Secure Communities program. Public sentiment was overwhelmingly opposed to the contentious program which some say has divided families and led to the deportation of large numbers of non-criminal immigrants. Department of Homeland Security officials were on hand for the task force’s only west coast meeting. The Advisory Council will send its recommendations to Secretary Janet Napolitano at the conclusion of the public hearings. Ernesto Arce reports.
