California Takes A Hit On Unemployment Insurance

A national workers’ advocacy group is sounding the alarm that states like California must begin paying back interest on federal loans used to fund unemployment insurance.
During the recession, the state borrowed more than $10 billion from the federal government to continue paying unemployed Californians. Now, the state must pay back $320 million in interest from its general fund. Pacifica’s Ernesto Arce has more from Los Angeles.
