San Francisco State Assemblymember Tom Ammiano sponsored a hearing today on the conditions inside state prison Secure Housing Units, or confinement cells. The review of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation follows the recent hunger strike at the Pelican Bay State Prison which spread to several other state facilities.
