A group of active-duty and former U.S. service members are taking a 1,900 mile bike ride from Los Angeles to St Louis to raise awareness of the plight of homeless veterans. The Vet Hunters, a non-profit organization based out of the San Gabriel Valley, left Los Angeles this afternoon supported by a motorcade of local and federal law enforcement. Along the way, the group will search for veterans at homeless camps, overpasses, and parks. The ride culminates in St. Louis, Missouri on August 10 at the office of Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki. Pacifica’s Ernesto Arce files this report from Los Angeles.
