Amazon Plans Ballot Fight Over Online Tax Collection

California Attorney General Kamala Harris approved ballot language for a measure to overturn the so-called Amazon tax in California. Online retailers say they will begin gathering signatures for a referendum to repeal California's new law that requires these to collect sales tax from customers in the state. Seattle-based Amazon dot com says the new tax is an unfair burden that ultimately hurts California. But proponents say the online retail giant is trying to bully the state in order to keep its tax advantage at the expense of small businesses, jobs and taxpayers.
