Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa gave his sixth annual state of the city address in south Los Angeles last night.After reading a lengthy list of accomplishments over his five-year tenure, the mayor urged Angelinos to unite in the face of tough social and economic problems that lie ahead. Villaraigosa focused much of his hour-long talk on education asking the city’s teachers to cooperate in raising the expectations of Los Angeles Unified School District students.
