State lawmakers in both the Assembly and Senate approved 7.4 billion dollars in cuts as they worked to pass a state budget. There were cuts to Medi-Cal, services for people with developmental disabilities. But they failed to pass a bill to eliminate the state's more than 400 redevelopment agencies. They also neglected to take action on Governor Jerry Brown's plan to ask voters to approve a five year extension of sales, income and vehicle taxes set to expire this year.
