Monsanto’s Roundup Herbicide on Trial as Juries Award Billions in Damages

Three victorious liability lawsuits and the anticipation of more piling up, is putting Monsanto on the hook for billions of dollars in damages. The Agribusiness has lost three cases by plaintiffs who developed Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a virulent form of cancer, which they say Monsanto’s herbicide Roundup caused. Monsanto began marketing the weed killer forty years ago. It’s become one of the most widely used agrichemicals in the world. Now Roundup, and Monsanto, are under growing scrutiny. Scientific evidence against Roundup is accumulating, but the Trump Administration’s Environmental Protection Agency continues to back Monsanto’s product. Vic Bedoian reports from Fresno.
