A bill to limit police cooperation with immigration officials has passed its latest hurdle in a state Senate committee. Oakland senator Rob Bonta’s “TRUTH Act” would require sheriffs and police departments to hold open hearings about how they interact with federal immigration officials’ deportation efforts.
