A special election for a State Senate seat in the east bay has taken an unusual turn, with the state Republican Party suing a political action committee for mailers endorsing the lone Republican in the race. Senate District 7, east of the Berkeley hills, is a heavily Democratic district where the lone Republican candidate has withdrawn from the race and endorsed Democrat Steve Glazer.
