Ballot Battle Over School Tax Is Getting Hotter

Governor Jerry Brown’s initiative to hike taxes and prevent mid-year cuts to schools is facing new troubles. Brown worked hard to defuse opposition from business and anti-tax groups, but now his Proposition 30 is getting attacked by a competing ballot measure to fund schools. Some schools advocates are calling for a “time out”, fearing a negative campaign could confuse voters into voting no on both, leading to drastic cuts to public schools and community colleges.
