Redistricting Alliance Urges Under-Represented Communities to Get Involved

A coalition representing California’s diverse communities gathered in Los Angeles today to discuss the remapping of the state’s political districts.
After the passage of Propositions 11 and 20, a citizen’s commission will redraw the state’s Senate, Assembly, Congressional, and Board of Equalization districts using data from the federal census.
The Redistricting California Alliance wants under-represented communities to take an active role in the commission’s work. It says fair political representation and guarantees made under the Voting Rights Act are at stake.
