L.A. Homeless Advocates Press for More Low-Income Housing

The U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development was in downtown Los Angeles today to resume the construction of the New Genesis affordable housing development. Shaun Donovan says the U.S. Recovery Act has helped resurrect projects such as the 98-unit complex near so-called Skid Row where construction came to a halt earlier this year after funding dried up.

Although the project has been widely celebrated as a creative approach to creating affordable housing, homeless advocates say much more needs to be done in order to tackle the issue in the nation’s homeless capital. Pacifica’s Ernesto Arce reports from Los Angeles.
