No Budget Deal in Sight as Legislative Session Closes


California lawmakers are casting final votes on bills as the legislature races to meet the Tuesday deadline to pass legislation. Along with other bills, lawmakers voted on Democratic and Republican versions of a state budget bill. The budget is often called the most important bill the legislature votes on, but whether Monday’s party-line votes signal progress in the weeks-long budget stalemate remains to be seen.
